MARKET HALL is a new concept for a "movable" community retail and gathering space that brings a unique mix of dining, retail, and recreational uses to the City of Hercules. The project combines elements from a public market, a park, a community festival, and a roadside diner to create an active amenity for the residents and visitors of Hercules to enjoy.
At the entry from San Pablo Avenue sits the iconic Main Hall structure, a large open-air market shed with local food vendors and a covered dining hall filled with oversized communal tables. Stemming from there are a series of landscaped courtyards for the community to use to meet friends for a leisure lunch, relax by the outdoor fire pit, read a book on an Adirondack, or to play bocce ball with their neighbors.
Eventually, the 6.62 acre site will become the first phase of the New Town Center. Rather than leaving empty an inactive parcel of land, during the preparation of construction documents, The Red Barn Co. creatively designed a current empty lot in the center of town into a dynamic community gathering space with recreational, retail, and dining options for the residents and visitors of Hercules.
